Along with all of the things retrievers are trained to do, such as retrieving and spotting, he’s also very good at duck forecasting. He’s always looking and listening, but mostly downwind. He picks up wing noise several hundred yards out.

Bart has gone to great effort to teach his understudy Scout everything he knows. But Scout’s a hot dog, always ready to go before instructed. Bart has always loved to recover the dekes and has passed it on to Scout. So he and Eddie have worked overtime after the hunt to train Scout to pay attention and go on command.
